If she don't just keep her mouth closed!

So the title of Miss Hampton 2009-2010 goes to Nikole Churchill a senior at the Hampton University satalite campus in VA Beach. The Hawaiian/White canidate has come under much scrutinty of the student body, especially after a letter she addressed to President Obama two days after winning her title:

Subject:
Hampton University

To:
President Barack Obama

October 11, 2009

Aloha Mr. Obama!

My name is Nikole Churchill, a senior nursing major at Hampton University. This past Friday October 9, 2009, I was honored to be crowned Miss Hampton University 2009-2010. It truly was the best night of my life! With that being said, I am sad to say…… that my crowning was not widely accepted and many negative comments regarding my win have been shared throughout my campus.

It would be much easier to say that possibly some were not accepting of the news because I wasn’t the most qualified contestant; however, the true reason for the disapproval was because of the color of my skin. I am not African-American. Despite the unfortunate beliefs that some are saying I should not have won, I am desperately trying to focus on those who believe in me and support me and my goal to represent this beautiful, multicultural campus the very best way that I can. I would love your help!

I am hoping that perhaps you would be able to make an appearance to my campus, Hampton University, so that my fellow Hamptonians can stop focusing so much on the color of my skin and doubting my abilities to represent, but rather be proud of the changes our nation is making towards accepting diversity. People are even nicknaming me, “lil Obama” because of various reasons. This is truly an honor as well!

I am also from Hawaii (Wahiawa) and I am hoping that you can assist me in opening some closed minds and help share some aloha spirit throughout my campus. I feel as though you could relate to my situation, which is why I immediately wanted to contact you. I was interviewed last night at the HU vs. HU football game by news channel 13 and I mentioned how individuals such as you and myself are making changes in hopes people can stop placing so much focus on our skin color by letting that define what we can, cannot, should, and/or should not do. Dr. Harvey welcomed me last night to the family with open arms and I was beyond honored when he told me that he is behind me 100%. I am proud to represent Hampton University and I am so proud having you to represent our home, our country. Your support with my crowning as Miss Hampton University 2009-2010 would be graciously appreciated. Please reply, I will be looking forward to it!

-Nikole Churchill

Virginia Beach , VA

Now let me say this. She has things twisted. Although she may have come under some scrutiny by some ingornat members of the student body, that is not the view of all the students. What MOST students are upset about is the fact that she is representing a school that she knows nothing about.
  1. She's a transfer student from VCU. She didn't go though the same entrance process that other Hampton students go through.
  2. She attends the satillite campus in Virginia Beach, not the main campus in Hampton. What to you REALLY know about being an HU student?
  3. Nobody knows who she is. Students on the main campus never heard mention of her name until the day of the pagent.
  4. She wrote that letter before addressing the studenet body. If you felt some type of way, you should address us first before you go run to the president. (p.s. I think he has better things to do than to worry about your image)

Besides if she knew anything about anything, she would know that Mr. Pirate ( the male version of Miss Hampton) is primarly of Asian descent. The student body accepted him with open arms because he is actively involved on the main campus, we see him everyday, and did a wonderful job in the pagent. However when nobody knows you, and your pagent performance is wack, we have nothing for you.

All in all. She needs to be unseen for a while. Stepping on the real Hampton campus may be dangerous for her health and perhaps life. It was wrong of her to portay students as racist to so many people. She's giving Hampton a real bad look, worse than the Miss Hampton that stole from Target a few years back. SMH!

For My Shop-o-holics

So I love a little online shopping.

Well , more like addicted to it.

And I found some web sites that every online shopper should know about . . .

The newest one I've found is Pink Ice. Its a mixture of Forever 21 and Wet Seal. The prices are decent, not too overpriced, definitely affordable for most. Shipping can be pretty pricey, but the clothing quality is definitely good.

Threadless Tees is pretty cool too. The shirts run anywhere from $9 to $15. Their shirts are all 100% cotton and really soft. The slogans printed on the shirts can be comical, witty and pretty cute. If you submit your own design, you could even win $500, which is a nice lil stash.

A'gaci is a fairly new site. They have everything from party dresses and heels to casual jeans and accessories. They're mostly known for their shoes (which go up to a size 10; some half sizes) which have been featured in numerous magazines. Some pretty cute stuff.

Tilly's is by far one of my favorites. Most of their products are sorta skater based, but they have clothing that is less skater as well. They only have stores in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey and Virgina, so online shopping is the best for most.

TV Review

So I have watch America's Best Dance Crew (ABDC) religously for the past three seasons and I have always been blown away by the dancers each season. But this season, I'm not so impressed. I'm more blown away by the sloppy seconds they decided to just throw on the show. I will admit that there is some interesting talent this season.

Vogue Evolution sprung in the competition talking all the "We're here and we're queer" stuff. I'm not much of a fan for them. The one thats all tatted up has a weird hair cut (second on the right), big boy always wears something that is unflattering (second on the left) and Ms. Transgender, Naomi (in the middle), looks like and anorexic man to me all the time. All the swinging of her hair doesn't make her more feminine. They are quite different though.

The Beat Ya Feet Kings are alright. They don't really impress me that much. I'm already not much of a fan of new GoGo, I prefer the old stuff (thanks Saffie!) But I love me some Wale and all my DMV friends support them, so Woop-de-Doo, go Kings! (But that chick gotta step it up. She did horrible in the Beyonce challenge...)

My two favorites this season are Rhythm City and Southern Movement. They are the only two crews that actually DANCE, not all that posing crap. They only two to impress me so far, and the two that I vote for every Sunday!

I usually don't watch Diddy's shows on MTV. In my opinion, Making The Band has been over done and Making His Band is whatever. Last night, I watched his new show Starmaker as it premiered after ABDC. To me, its just the new American Idol, except you can't vote for your faveorites. The singers were all fairly good, but it was the judges that really entertained me. Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins was a BEAST! He went so hard and I loved it!!! Tamara Conniff and Laurie Ann are the new Simon and Paula. They didn't really "fight" per say, but the disagreement was fun to watch in their facial expressions. I loved the conflict. It was funny to hear Laurie Ann said she didn't wanna be a "dream killer" for anybody. The whole time though, I kept laughing because that's exactly what she's been on Making the Band for the past how many seasons? SMH Stay true to you girl!

Last but not least: WATCH GLEE THIS FALL!

The musical/comedy series premiers September 9th 9/8 central on FOX. Here the summary of the show:

McKinley High School's Glee Club used to be at the top of the show choir world, but years later, a series of scandals have turned it into a haven for misfits and social outcasts. WILL SCHUESTER, a young optimistic teacher, has offered to take on the Herculean task of restoring McKinley's Glee Club to its former glory with the help of fellow teacher EMMA PILLSBURY . It's a tall order when the brightest stars of the pitch-imperfect club include KURT, a nerdy soprano with a flair for the dramatic; MERCEDES, a dynamic diva-in-training who refuses to sing back-up; ARTY, a geeky guitarist who spends more time avoiding bullies than chasing girls; and TINA, an awkward girl who needs to suppress her stutter before she can take center stage.

I Guess They'll Just Sign Anybody Now...

So If you haven't heard already, yesterday it became widely known that entertainer (because I refuse to call him a rapper or actor) Bow Wow left SoSo Def and has signed with Cash Money Records. The announcement was made via Twitter yesterday:

"RT THIS!! IM OFFICIALLY THE NEWEST MEMBER TO THE CASH MONEY TEAM! CMB YOUNG MUULLLAAA BAAAABY!!! LBW!!!! THANKS 2 ALL MY FANS. MUCH LUV! BOW" -bowwow614

In another tweet, he mentioned his new label and movie project:

"jus signed a new deal with cash money. now im getting ready for pre production on my new movie "lottery ticket" starring myself and ice cube" -bowwow614

Bow Wow is supposedly joining singer Omarion on Cash Money as well. While no official statement has been made from him or any of his representatives, it has been hinted since early June that he was signing with Lil Wayne's label.

If you were anywhere near Twitter or this morning, then you have definitely seen the new trending topic #signedtocashmoney, which was sparked by the absurdity of this move:
"Ryan Seacrest just got #signedtoyoungmoney along with Fred Flinstone" -toris_world

"oh shit soon as lil duval #signtoyoungmoney his left knee went out. fuck! i just wanna be successful" -lilduval

"sarah palin just got #signedtoyoungmoney" -HeartlessRnB

"My ass is finna be #signedtoyoungmoney in 2 days. I'm in the studio already." -SmartBarbie

" Kim frm The Real Housewives of Atlanta & her wigs are #signedtoyoungmoney" -dearfasionista

"Barack Obama threw a houseparty invited Weezy & is now #signedtoyoungmoney lls." -modelwalk90

"Neyo hair line#signedtoyoungmoney 1st single "behind the line" I heard it got pushed back tho ha" -Punjabii

"MAYA ANGELOU HAS JUST BEEN#SIGNEDTOYOUNGMONEY HER FIRST SINGLE "IM STILL FUCKIN RISING" COMING SEPT 1ST." -purelyjess
